1850-1870 Glynn County, Georgia Mortality Schedules
Since the 1850, 1860, and 1870 mortality schedule used basically the same
form, I have combined all three years into
one alphabetized index. The
1870 schedule did differ a little from the other two years, as there were no
longer slaves,
so the "Free or Slave" column was replaced by a "Parentage"
Column. However, only one person had an entry for that,
they were born in
Africa, so their parents were obviously foreign born as well.
The year found after the month is the mortality schedule year, NOT the death
year. If the person died between June 2
and December 31, they would have died the year before the schedule. For
example: September 1870 is really
September 1869.
The mortality images are fully searchable on Ancestry.com, and the fact that
there were only a few pages per year,
I did not include the page number where
the person was listed, in order to save space online.
Some age entries were listed in fractional way. If it was listed, for
example as 3/12, I put 3m. Others were listed as
written.
Abbreviations: m=month d=day(s) w=week(s)
