            The list herein contained of sixty negros and their future issue and increase together with one thousand acres of land on Sapelo Island around the field known as Billally’s field, and adjoining Dr. Rogers property.
            I settle upon my daughter Catherine and her child or children and hereby constitute Augustus Kenan of Millegeville, William Cook and Charles Spalding Trustees, them or the survivors of them, to hold, manage and direct the same to and for the use of my daughter Catharine Kenan and her child or children, in case I should die without executing any other more formal deed to the same effect.
            Done at Darien this 19th of March 1835.

            Whereas, on the nineteenth of March in the year of Eighteen hundred and thirty five (1835) at Darien, I, Thomas Spalding of the Island of Sapelo did sign a paper expressive of my intention in regard to my daughter Catherine Spalding, now and then the wife of M.J. Kenan of Milledgeville, and did in the said paper declare that I would at some future time execute some other more formal Deed, now in fulfillment of this my original intention.
            This Indenture witnesseth that I the aforesaid Thomas Spalding in consideration of the love and affection for my daughter Catherine and the future benefit of my Grandchildren and for an in consideration of One cent to me in hand paid by Augustus Kenan, William Cook and Charles Spalding, have bargained and sold and delivered to the aforesaid Augustus Kenan, Wm. Cook and Charles Spalding their Executors or assigns, the sixty slaves enumerated in the list contained in my signed paper of the 19th of March 1835 annexed hereto, and intended to be identified with this Deed, which have been increased by adding to, and by natural increase to Eighty-Six to wit, on Sapelo – Abijado, Patience, Hagar, Billally, Jim, Stephen, Gibb, Lydia, Amy, Penny, Billally, Poebe, Liberty, Tom, Sue, Hester, Billally, Sally, Salama, Edwissa, Scipio, Esau, Sidney, Phillips, Cetefor, Jacob, Anthony, Washallata, Margaret, Anthony, Peter, Rose, Lydia, June, Sally, Phoebe, Nelly, Tenah, Sam, Abby, Grace, Affy, Anthony, Sukey, Barron, Jim, Charlotte, Eliza, Patience, Jim, Aramantto – at Milledgeville – Richard, Tenah, Judy, Rose, Richard, Clinch, Phoebe, Polly, Hetty an infant, Betsy, Bermuda, Eliza, Rhody, Chloe, Sam, Luck, Jim, Fanny, Doctor. To Have and to Hold the aforesaid Eighty six slaves, their future issue and increase for the purposes following. To have and to hold the same for the sole and separate use of my said Daughter Catherine Kenan the wife of Michael J. Kenan, for and during her natural life, free and discharged from the Debts incumbrances of her husband and after her decease to be applied to the joint use and benefit of her Husband Michael J. Kenan and the education of such children as she may leave behind her, and after the death of the survivor then to the use of my Grandchildren, the children of my Daughter Catherine Share and share alike – and I do here also bargain, sell and deliver in the same manner, and in the same form, and for the same purposes, and in confirmation of the paper signed on the 19th March 1835, but enlarged in extent, A certain tract of Land situated upon Sapelo Island in the County of McIntosh, containing from fourteen hundred acres to fifteen hundred acres (1400 to 1500) and bounded on the north and north East by Dr. Rogers land and Anson Kimberly’s land that was on the East by Blackbeard and Cabauta Marshes, on the South and divided from Spalding’s land in manner following –

            A line traced from the western marshes between Sapelo and little Sapelo until it reaches Thomas Spalding’s Savannah Cotton and Corn field (containing about 120 acres) running along the Canal of that field, all around it, again until it comes to the great Canal running into Cabauta Creek, and the said tract of Land containing as above stated from fourteen hundred to fifteen hundred acres to them the said Augustus Kenan William Cook and Charles Spalding for the use and benefit of my daughter during her life, and to and for the sole benefit of her surviving children, Share and Share alike and their heirs forever.
            Done at Darien this 7th day of June in the year One thousand Eight hundred and forty one. Six interlined making (86) in No. T.S.
