Ellen was a slave on Retreat Plantation, St. Simons Island. She possibly died between 1860 and 1870, as she is not listed in the 1870 census with her husband and family.

It is unknown by me if this was a child of Neptune and Ila's. She was listed in the personal papers of Anna Matilda King, and there was only one Ila on the plantation, that was Neptune's wife.

From "Anna, The Letters of a St. Simons Island Plantation Mistress, 1817-1859" pg. 353:

The wedding ceremony was performed by another slave, Hercules, on a Sunday evening at Retreat Plantation on St. Simons Island. The next morning, Ila had to "foot it to Oatlands" [Robert Grant's Plantation], and as of the writing of this particular letter on 31 March 1858, Neptune had not seen his bride since.

One wonders if Ila was being hired out, or if she was a slave of Robert Grant's? An Ila was listed in an inventory of the King family slaves with a birth date, is she the same that married Neptune?

According to the book "Anna, The Letters of a St. Simons Island Plantation Mistress, 1817-1859", Neptune Sr., Sukey, Abner, and Liddy, were willed to Anna Matilda King [pg. 437 & 438 appendix 2]

It does not state by whom, or on what date, but we can assume that it was around or after 1823 from the birth date of Liddy. Therefore this inheritance was probably from her father, William Page.
